OK, whattaya think? This is my first attempt at painting. Yeah, since grade school! I used the leftover acrylic paints from the Thomas Kinkade paint-by-number that I finished (yes, finished, S!) They were so tempting, sitting there... 18 little pots of color... saying, "You can do it, Paula, you can paint! Don't be afraid!" So I found some bird and flower pictures that I had collected for reference, and an 8 x 10" canvas board and here it is! My firstborn..."Goldfinch on Zinnia." And thanks, Nancy Bea, for being my bloggy friend and inspiration!

this painting is lovely. glad you put me in your faves. :o) Thanks. and YAY for homeschooling! WE homeschooled for 6 years and the boys are in a small Christian school now and love it. It has been a nice transition. keep painting!
Hard to believe this is your first painting, and done with acrylics, which are a hard medium to master. Excellent work! You obviously have a ton of talent. I'd love to see what you could do painting from life. Maybe a simple set-up of coffee mug and an apple or brown egg on a white cloth, lit from one direction. Something like that? Anyway, great work! And thank you for mentioning me as your inspiration: I was so very surprised and touched! xox
Are you serious? This is your very 1st attempt? Wow.......that's amazing! I have dabbled here and there in painting over the years and never even came CLOSE to something this good! So.. how's it feel to be a natural!?
Love it!
