Inspire Me Thursday - "Functional Art"
I found this terrarium at a thrift shop for a couple dollars. It was full of old dirt, with mineral-caked glass and bare wood. We used it for a few years, and it worked really well for Venus flytraps! I put it away until recently, then I cleaned up the glass, painted it, and put new silicone sealer on the glass seams inside. The back side is a mirror, which had a boring black reverse side, so as a last thought I painted the scene and quote on it. "The kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth, one is nearer God's heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth." - Dorothy F. Gurney. We planted it with 4 tiny tropical plants. I asked my son who I should give it to, and he said, "Let's keep it for now!"

wonderful post!
WOW! Love your work...your attention to detail is inspiring. I like that you painted the back of the mirror.
Beautiful!!!
your remake of the terrarium is quite fun and artful! i think your son is very correct that you should keep and enjoy it for awhile.
