Inspire Me Thursday - "Show and Tell"

This is a decoupaged treasure box that I made for my Secret Pal, Liz. Some of the parents/teachers at the homeschool center participate in secret pals, to encourage and brighten each other's days throughout the school year. My pal is the librarian and teacher, and she LOVES Dr. Seuss. For a special gift for her, I made her this box, out of a plain box from Michaels, some acrylic paint, a few round wooden balls, Modge-Podge and one of my son's repeat Cat in the Hat readers.

I had a lot of fun making the outside kind of negative and rainy (like our climate) but the inside is positive and fun! On the inside I raised some of the small objects to make them more 3D. Lots of fun, and she was utterly thrilled with it! Probably $5 for materials.

Your treasure box is a treasure in itself! I love the Dr. Seuss theme, and I love the idea of the contrast between outside and inside. What a gorgeous piece or work!

What a wonderful idea! I love decoupage but have never tried it myself. I'll put it on the list of things I'd like to learn! thanks for your comment on my "D." To answer your question, the original is about 7" tall and 8.5" inches wide.
