Modern Quilt Along - Treehouse Baby Quilt

Well, the trial "Treehouse" quilt is finished! I like it very much, imperfect as it is, and I learned a LOT! It only ended up to be (after trimming to square off, quilting shrinkage and wash shrinkage) about 24" by 31", but that's not too small for a baby, is it? Now, who to give it to? I know several pregnant ladies, but this needs to be for a baby girl, don't you think? The close up shows the backing fabric with my made-up wavy planty quilting pattern.

I think it's a perfect size for a baby quilt. It just needs to be big enough to catch some spit up, right? :o)

I also think it could be for a boy or a girl. Your wavy basting is very creative and is perfect for the theme of the quilt. I can't believe this is your first quilt! It's very pretty and I like how the heads of grain go in the direction of the quilting.

Yes, Moms of boys have to be creative. I'm not sure if it keeps me in touch with my girlie side or what, but I have this drive to create - maybe because I don't have a little girl to dress up?

I'm pregnant! JOKING Anyway, beautiful quilt, now I know why you were commenting that you have been using your sewing machine a lot lately. It could be either for a boy or girl.

I think it could be boy or girl too - it would a lovely treasure for either. The wavy quilting goes so well with the fabric pattern - it looks wonderful altogether.

Your quilt is wonderful. That wavy quilting is fantastic. Did you do it free motion or with a walking foot? Congratulations on a great completion!
