Green Grass, Trees & Froggies

Yesterday, the men and I braved the afternoon traffic and took Gipper for a drive to the local arboretum because it was JUST TOO GORGEOUS TO STAY HOME! I keep telling myself to soak this all up, so in February I can remember why I like to live here. Anyhow, we had a great time walking and climbing trees and taking lots of photos (I love my new Nikon CoolPix with the 4 GB card!) I got really close to Mr. Frog here before he leaped back into the safety of the pond. I've been thinking that I want to stay in the habit of drawing plants and animals, so that I have that in my visual memory bank for doing "imaginary" illustrations. So, I got plenty of froggy pics to draw from!

Great froggy pictures - although I have to admit to hating the slimy green devils. I'm not really a scaredy-girl, but it's something about the randomness of their jumps that freaks me out. And the fact that they don't hop away when they see you, but quite often jump towards you. Sigh - I'm never going to find a prince by the frog route am I?

That is so ironic -- cause it is in February that we are thankful for our weather and we remember why we live in Austin! I'm glad to hear the weather is gorgeous up there now. It must stay that way til we visit next week :-)
