Lavender Fields Forever!

What a wonderful day! The men indulged me with a day-trip west to see the lavender fields in bloom. Did you know that Washington is the 2nd largest producer of lavender in the world, after France? It is gorgeous, something you can't appreciate only from pictures - the bees hum as a backdrop, the sun on the various shades of lavender, the scent that knocks you nearly off your feet! And so many amazing goodies for sale: essential oils, soaps, honey, sugar, teas, candles, lotions, sachets, live plants, 6 flavors of lavender ice creams...
I managed to control myself and purchased only a beautiful watercolor poster, a bunch of freshly-cut culinary lavender, and a small plant to put in my front border. And the boys each had a mint-lavender cone (I had a lick and it was incredible - wish I could eat dairy!)
