Cozy, Warm, & Brown

The weather this week in the Northwest is lovely: warm and sunny, in the low to mid-70s. These photos show that fall is on my mind though! Cozy, warm, brown sticky buns and another blouse from the Built by Wendy pattern.
I haven't had cinnamon rolls in 2 years, since I stopped eating wheat and started feeling better. I have made them for my guys, and BOY, is it hard to resist them! And the smell of a Cinnabon store at the mall or airport?? Torture! I just got a new "Gluten Free Gourmet" recipe book from the library and found a recipe for these cinnamon pecan sticky buns. I made them this morning, and they were great! They take a little time to make, with about 3 dozen ingredients and then needed time for the yeast to rise, but worth it in the end! Thank you, Bette Hagman!
Secondly, I finished my second blouse out of floral patterned corduroy from Simplicity 4111. This time I branched out and made a few variations. I added ricrac around the neck, lenthened the long sleeves by 2 extra inches and didn't put elastic at the cuffs, lengthened it by 4 inches and left the sides open like angrychicken's. I love it, and it will be SO COZY with a tank or a thermal shirt under it when it is chilly.

Just got the Built by Wendy "Sew U" book. Super excited to try some of her patterns (as soon as I get a couple of easier projects under my belt).

Buns and blouse both look great!

Love your blouse. Cinnamon buns are tradition in our house on New Years Day. A faff, but worth it!

Isn't it wonderful to find a cookbook that gives you recipes to deal with dietary limitations and still manages to have great things to make! I have a vegetarian boyfriend, and I can never seem to find anything substantial to cook for dinner that we both like.

Your blouse looks super!

Cute shirt!

How was the cookbook -- other than they yummy recipe -- is it everything you want in the cookbook? (Hey, I need some input and I'm considering this "research.")

I'm so glad you were able to eat some tasty rolls! But now I want some. . .

Love the blouse you have made here, it does look very cosy for cold days.

And thanks for the comment on my blog - I can't imagine both growing up with a Vulcan and giving birth to one. Makes my head spin...

...still, they do have their uses!
