Sew What?

I haven't been very bloggy lately...sorry if you are coming by and saying, "STILL nothing?!" The end of the summer is upon me, and I'm gearing up for homeschooling starting next week. As the boys get older, I want to make sure I'm "covering all the bases." Maybe beyond the point of reason, since the older is now up to 5 years "ahead" in some subjects! OK, OK, but I'm the one responsible for these young men's educations! They are so precious, and I want to give them the best I can!
Anyhow, I have been creating in the mornings and these are two recently finished projects. The "Welcome Quilt" now hangs proudly in our freshly painted entryway.
The peasant blouse is made from Simplicity 4111, a "Built by Wendy" pattern. I had recently bought a thifted top in a similar style and thought "I could make that..." and then I saw angrychicken's recent photos, and decided to go for it. I haven't made clothes for myself...ever. And I'm pretty darn happy with how this turned out. Plus, now that I have the pattern, a new blouse is only 2 or 3 yards of fabric away. Hmmmmm... pinwale corduroy like Amy's? Flannel for the fall? denim with embroidery around the neckline?

I am so in awe of the amount of work and effort put in by homeschooling parents, it's a miracle you do anything else. Your blouse is lovely - really pretty print.

Cute shirt! And the house quilt is beautiful.

I'm so impessed with the people that homeschool. I don't know how you do it all.

That is so pretty! I have been wanting one like that, either in a print like you did, or in white: crinkle cotton or white on white embroidery. The last thing I sewed was a nursing top, about 12 years ago. It came out great, but was so complicated to make, I gave my sewing machine away shortly afterwards. I decided that life is too short to spend a minute more sweating over a hot seam ripper. But when I see something like this shirt I think, "Oooh!"
