Illustration Friday - "Safe"

A question that I have to ask myself constantly - "Is this safe to eat?" Not something most people have to think of, unless you happen to be a nervous king with an untrustworthy court (in which case you should get yourself a royal food-taster)! But to those of us with food allergies and sensitivities, eating (especially eating out) can be a great adventure! Just this weekend we went on a day trip across the state, and stopped for a quick bite at Taco Bell. When I questioned the workers as to whether the soft taco tortilla was made of wheat or corn, she answered, "Oh, it's definitely not wheat... it's made of flour!" Duhhh! What kind of flour? No big deal to you maybe, but to me it could mean a 3 day stomach ache and a ruined trip! (OK, Paula, your peevy side is showing! That's enough!) Anyhow, inspired by my fellow adventurer, capello, a gluten-free recipe book cover!

Drawn with Micron black pen, Prismacolor markers and colored pencils.

Awesome! (You know I especially love the "cursing" -- right?)

As for Taco Bell, they have awesome food information on their website. I believe their only food that is gluten-free is their tostadas. Or, at least that was the situation the last time I checked.

I have the same problem with my son. He has sensitivities to artifical colorings and flavorings in food.

I find that when I ask, I get "well he won't die from it" But the thing is he MIGHT!!! He get severe Rages when he ingests these toxins into his body. He may die if I have to kill him one day because of his irrational behavior from eating a candy someone gave him (only joking!)

I'd say if you got a 3 day stomach ache, no one could blame you for being peevy. Nice illustration, that food makes me want to bake something!!
