Bird-Brained!

I finished my second bird painting this morning (the first was the Goldfinch on Zinnia). This was the first painting I started with my Christmas-gift acrylic paints, but I finished a couple looser paintings sooner. This one I really had to be in the mood to work on - and it took me a while to be in the mood to finish the bird's feet! I aim to keep doing a series of birds and really get good at the textures: the feathers, the shiny eyes, the scaly feet. I like to incorporate text into my paintings, like the flower drawings I did last summer.

"Oriole" - Acrylic paint on a 5" x 7" stretched canvas. The image continues over the sides of the canvas. Click on the image to see it larger.
