Speaking of New Year's Resolutions...

... one of my resolutions is to sell art this year, either at a show or to get an illustrating contract.

Yesterday I went to my local artists network meeting to talk about their summer show. Last summer I worked at the show as an artist-in-action, but I didn't show anything since I was such a newbie and just getting back into creating. This was the kick-off organizational meeting to rough out the guidelines and dates and times and qualifications, and, I'm thrilled to say, it looks like I'm in! The show is not until July, so I have plenty of time to build up my inventory (so, you may be seeing more paintings in my Illlustration Friday entries)! I'm really enjoying my Christmas paints - this is a detail of a small acrylic I'm working on. This was my 3rd session on it, I think 1 or 2 more to finish it!

P.S. I am still working on itsy little drawings and paintings while my living room (especially post-Christmas) has these BIG GAPING BARE WALLS! What's up with that?! Physician, heal thyself!

That's really great news that you have a slot! There's nothing like a show to focus and motivate - your acrylic looks good to me!

Deadlines are the greatest creative motivation possible. Strange but true. Your Oriole detail is amazing... go Paula!
